Hey Steve, I just learned about your India blog from Paul at Travemonkey.com

I finally wrapped up my RTW trip, and am glad I get to follow your Indian adventure from the comfort of my (parent's) couch.

Thanks again for the generous dare while I was in Thailand last year. That photo with the ladyboys...well...I won't soon forget. I'll be sure to plug your blog whenever I can.

Be sure to plan on a trip to the India/Pakistan border from Amritsar for the daily border crossing ceremony. It was the most surreal experience of my RTW trip - classic India too!

Hi John, glad you are enjoying the stories. Not many to go now til the end! There are normally lots of opportunities to find little internet cafes on the road - although wifi is a more scarce commodity - but as it is, I'm finishing this writeup from the comfort of my own home in England :)

Hi Steve,
These are great stories! It is interesting to get into all the details of your trip. If feels like I am watching a movie.

Do these remote places have internet access or do you post these after you return?

Ah, the joys of worrying about altitude sickness. I'm reading this while sitting in my Huaraz, Peru hotel room at 3,100 on day one of acclimatising for a 10 day hike that will spend almost the entire time over 4,000m, and go over 5,000 a couple of times. Fingers crossed I get it right because I don't want to feel awful once I've set off!

Hope the altitude is going OK for you!

Caroline, don't let the existence of scammers put you off visiting India. You soon learn to identify them. A Lonely Planet guidebook (or similar) will set you straight on a lot of the scams, and you can read others at the excellent indiamike.com forum. Knowledge combined with an ounce of common sense is the key to beating these guys.

Happy travels,
Steve
